National Space

Learning, education and workforce development

The National Space supports learning and workforce development across occupational therapy, physical activity, public health, inclusion and community wellbeing.

This includes the development of digital resources, workshops, communities of practice, university teaching and placement opportunities. Learning is shaped through collaboration with students, practitioners, universities, partners and people with lived experience.

Sport for Confidence works with universities and placement providers to support curriculum development, in addition to hosting students within non-traditional and community-based settings, helping lecturing staff and future professionals explore inclusive approaches to physical activity, participation and health.

‘My placement at Sport for Confidence helped me to start thinking outside the box; being in a community-based, non-clinical setting helped me understand the occupational therapy role in promoting health. The Sport for Confidence team gave me great support during my placement, I learnt so much!’

‘Throughout our collaboration to embed physical activity within our university’s pre-registration degree programmes, Sport for Confidence staff brought vision, energy and creative ideas, alongside practical, feasible options to improve, innovate, deliver and inspire others. They were able to drive positive change with sensitivity to local community needs, and developed excellent relationships with a range of people and external stakeholders/organisations, forming a solid foundation for collaborative partnerships for the future.’
