Our Local Partners

Sport for Confidence works with a variety of partners at a local level which include organisations such as community services and groups, health care services, councils, schools and universities. By collaborating with our local partners, we are able to reach a larger audience, promote inclusive physical activity and increase the impact we have on our client’s health and wellbeing.

How we work with our partners: 

  • SEEVIC College (USP): Sport for confidence have established a closed Fitness for confidence group for the students.
  • Essex Partnership NHS foundation Trust – Forensic Mental Health Unit: Links to support their clients to access a mainstream setting, practice life-skills and develop occupational performance skills.
  • Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust -Community Mental Health Team: SFC offer a closed group session to individuals with mental health needs and using sport as a vehicle to help with physical and mental well-being.
  • Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust-Community Learning disability Team: send referrals for their clients to attend the sessions at Waterside.
  • Dementia Community Support Team and the Dementia Navigator for Canvey Island. Offering sessions for individuals with Dementia including swimming and an exercise for confidence session.
  • Hadleigh Training Centre: provides training opportunities for individuals with additional needs.
  • Action for children: SFC deliver a 2-hour Multi-sports session for young people who have a disability during the school holidays.
  • Carers Choices: SFC offer a 6 week programme to young carers aged between 7-11 to provide them the opportunity to gain an understanding of stress and anxiety and learn simple/concrete techniques to manage this, using sport as a vehicle to demonstrate the learnt skills.
  • Carers Choices Day Centre: for people with a Learning Disability, who support their clients to take part in some of the sessions at Waterside.
  • CAVS (Ways to wellness-Social prescribing): SFC offer 1:1 gym session’s for clients who require additional support and confidence building before going to the gym independently.
  • Southend Mencap: Working in partnership to host a Mini Olympics last year to celebrate Learning Disability day.
  • Headways Day Centre: SFC support individuals with an acquired brain injury, who refer their clients to attend the sport for confidence sessions.
  • NHS Southend CCG: Links have been made with the commissioners who have attended some of our delivery days to see the sport for confidence model in practice.
  • Adult Social Care: Links have been established with the social care team to signpost their service users to the sport for confidence programme at Waterside.
  • Castlepoint Borough Council: Part of public health and supporting the community to take part in sport and physical activity.
